Restaurants
- Liuzza’s By The Track for a dusty old bar vibe and really really incredible BBQ Shrimp Po-Boy. To me, it is a transcendent god-level food.
- Cafe Du Monde in the French Quarter or City Park is a very touristy very old beignet restaurant that is awesome. Cafe Au Lait with chicory and an order of three beignets… get that.
- Molly’s Rise and Shine is a new-ish breakfast restaurant that has the best biscuit and jam I’ve ever had and it is nice to walk around the garden district neighborhood.
- Turkey and the Wolf is the same people as Molly’s and does make really cool sandwiches, the collard green one is “famous.”
- Cuchon is an extremely epic pork-focused cajun restaurant but kinda fancy. Def worth it imo.
- Coop’s Place is weirdly one of the few bars / restaurants in the french quarter that is not that expensive and is open late and makes a good variety of New Orleans style food. There are a ton of restaurants in this neighborhood that are old and famous and I just don’t know that much about them because, in the end, I am from Slidell.
- Verti Mart is a drunk-persons late night deli at the very end of the French Quarter that does make the best fried shrimp Po Boy i’ve had.
- Red Beans and Rice is my favorite food you gotta eat it somewhere, a good place to do that is Cooter Brown’s !!
- Willie Mae’s Scotch House is rly awesome fried chicken.
- Commander’s Palace is I guess the best fancy place and I think rightfully so.
- Hansen’s Sno Bliz is my favorite place to get sno-balls, an iconically new orleans ice-y dessert, here they use a bunch of fresh fruit in the flavors and it is notably better and softer.
- Vietnamese food in New Orleans is delicious and abundant, I recommend Pho Tau Bay, Lilly’s Cafe, Ba Chi Canteen, and Bahn Mi Boys
- Sneaky Pickle is one my favorite restuarants in the bywater neighborhood, it is vegetable-forward creative menu, fun
- The Camellia Grill is a sick old diner with a bunch of Louisiana food.
- Dos Jefes Uptown Cigar Bar really rocks ass and Snake & Jakes is near there and good dive bar too
- Pizza Delicious is a good place to eat pizza, if you need it
- Parkway Bakery and Tavern is an old iconic poboy restaurant that is good and fun to visit, if not my “personal” favorite.
- Parasol’s and Tracey’s and Guy’s Po Boys and Domilise’s are other totally good po boy places
- Fat Boy’s Pantry and Stein’s Market can be great places to eat sandwiches
